New media. Open minds

From 15 to 17 October 2008, the next generation of European journalists meets at the European Parliament in Brussels for the second edition of the European Youth Media Days. The gathering of 200 emerging journalists promotes a broad discussion and networking on European issues, confronting and provoking with diverse perspectives and realities.

Core elements of the three-days-programme: the creation of new European media formats, live on air, online and printed, in hands-on media workshops. High-ranking debates with the President of the European Parliament, Group Chairmen, correspondents and media professionals from across the continent. An exciting cultural programme. Insights into the Brussels sphere of media, culture and politics. The EYMD offer the chance to network, share knowledge and gain a unique international experience.

Young people interested in European media and politics, journalism students or young professionals living in one of the 27 EU countries (or being a EU national abroad) can apply until 24 September 2008

16-22 September 2008 – European Mobility Week 2008




During the European Mobility Week European cities and towns will have the opportunity to participate to the most widespread event on sustainable mobility. This year’s theme is ‘Clean air for all’. A full week of events dedicated to sustainable mobility will be organised in more than 2000 cities and towns.

26 September 2008 - Intercultural Dialogue Day

On 26th September 2008, AFS volunteers from all EFIL member organisations in and beyond Europe will collaborate to promote the idea of Intercultural Dialogue by organising simultaneous debating events in approximately 400 local communities. This is a conference for researchers, practitioners and experts in the field of international youth exchange and intercultural learning, about the educational impact, success stories and obstacles of exchange programs. The conference is organised by EFIL (European Federation of Intercultural Learning)/Brussels, AFS Interkulturelle Begegnungen/Germany and IDRI (The Intercultural Development Research Institute)/Milan.
