Under the umbrella of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign, the EUSEW is Europe’s leading event on energy issues. The 3rd edition of EUSEW will take place in Brussels and in other cities across Europe.
This year’s events cover a range of issues, including: energy efficient housing and lighting, renewable energy solutions (e.g. biomass, solar, wave and wind energy), reductions of greenhouse emissions, and sustainable energy for transport.

The Safer Internet Day 2009 will take place in Luxembourg, and will be attended by Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media. It will focus on social networking, a phenomenon which has been quickly and widely adopted by young people in recent years.
On 10 February, the main social networking sites active in Europe will sign an agreement in which industry will commit itself to maximise the benefits of the internet while managing the potential risks to children and young people. On this day, the Commission will launch a Europe-wide communication campaign and unveil a video clip on cyber-bullying, one of the most frequent problems young people encounter on the internet.

The Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement, in cooperation with the European Youth Press association and Café Babel, launched the 2009 European Young Journalist Award, a pan-European competition for young journalists.
The competition is open from the 1st of February until the 31st of May 2009. The topic of all applications for both categories must refer to the EU enlargement and/or the future vision of Europe.
Participants must be between 17 and 35 years old and they must come from an EU Member State, a candidate or a potential candidate country (Western Balkans and Turkey).
The 35 national winners of the 2009 European Young Journalist Award will be invited at the end of August/beginning of September 2009 to a cultural and historical trip to Berlin and will meet EU representatives, politicians, ambassadors and professional journalists.

The seminar aims to bring policy makers, youth researchers, youth organisations and young people together, to explore different ways of participation based on Information and Communication Technologies (“e-participation”) and to develop strategies on how they can be implemented in youth work practice, youth educational programmes, youth research and policy.
The course is open to active members of youth organisations, as well as young people not being part of youth organisations, youth researchers and policy makers, practising participation based on the use of Information and Communication Technologies. Participants should be between 18 and 30 years old.

The aim of the seminar is to map the existing methods of youth participation at local/municipal level and to visualize a future scenario and priorities in the field of youth policy in Europe.
The seminar is open to project managers, trainers, young people, youth leaders, youth policy makers and youth workers from all Youth in Action programme countries.
